Antioxidants


Antioxidants are a group of vitamins and minerals that have super powers.  Vitamins A, C, E and Selenium (a trace element, widespread in foods) help prevent food from becoming discolored or rancid, inhibit oxidation in animal and plant cells, and effectively work in the body to bind nasty free-radicals (the bad guys).  Free-radicals oxidize and damage cell membranes; this can be the very early stage of cancer and heart disease. 

Dietary antioxidants minimize this potential damage by:

  • Limiting free-radical formation
  • Destroying free-radicals
  • Stimulating antioxidant activity
  • Repairing oxidative damage
